Privacy Policy
By using MCPins, you agree to these Terms of Service.
Last Updated: June 11, 2025
At MCPins, we value your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use our Minecraft location mapper app. By using MCPins, you agree to this policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.
1. What Information We Collect
Some of the information we collect (such as email addresses, IP addresses, account identifiers, and billing-related information processed by our payment provider) may be considered personal data under applicable privacy laws.
We collect the following information when you use MCPins:
- Account Info: Your email when you sign up and your minecraft username and uuid when you link your Minecraft account. If you use a paid tier (Iron or Gold), we do not store billing addresses or payment details on our servers; payment information is processed securely by our payment provider, Stripe.
- App Data: The Minecraft locations (pins) you save, including coordinates, map details, and notes. We also track how you use the app (e.g., clicks, features used) to improve it.
- Device Info: Basic details like your device type, operating system, and IP address to ensure the app runs smoothly and securely.
- Contact Info: If you email us (e.g., at support@mcpins.app), we keep that communication to help you.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your data to:
- Run MCPins: Save your pins, manage your account, and provide Free Tier (1 map, 50 pins), Iron Tier (10 maps, 1,000 pins), or Gold Tier (25 maps, 5,000 pins) features.
- Process Payments: Handle subscriptions for Iron and Gold tiers via our payment processor.
- Improve the App: Analyze usage (e.g., which features are popular) to fix bugs and add features.
- Communicate: Send you account updates, billing info, or service alerts. We may send occasional promotional emails about MCPins, and you can opt out at any time.
- Ensure Security: Detect and prevent fraud or misuse (e.g., hacking attempts).
Legal Basis for Using Your Information
We process personal data only as necessary to provide, operate, and improve the MCPins service.
We use your email address to create and manage your account, provide subscription features, process payments, and deliver essential service communications. This processing is necessary for the performance of a contract between you and MCPins.
We may use your email address to send important service-related or security communications where we have a legitimate interest in ensuring the security, reliability, and proper operation of the service.
We may send promotional emails about MCPins only where permitted by law, and you can opt out of these communications at any time.
We do not use your email address for advertising, tracking across other services, or unrelated purposes.
Data Retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide MCPins and comply with legal obligations.
3. How We Share Your Information
We don’t sell your data. We share it only when necessary:
- Service Providers: We use trusted companies to run MCPins, like Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), Linode (storage), and Postmark (emails). They process personal data only on our instructions and are bound by GDPR-compliant data protection agreements.
- Legal Requirements: We may share data if required by law (e.g., court order) or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
- Business Changes: If MCPins is sold or merged, your data may transfer to the new owner.
4. Your Choices and Rights
You control your data, so you may:
- Access or Update: View or edit your account info and pins in the app.
- Delete: Delete your account in-app to remove your pins and personal info. We may keep some data (e.g., payment records) if required by law.
- Opt Out: Unsubscribe from promotional emails via the link in any email.
- Data Rights: If you are located in the European Union, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing, which you can exercise by contacting us at support@mcpins.app.
5. How We Protect Your Information
We take security seriously:
- Encryption: Your data is encrypted during transfer (e.g., HTTPS) and at rest (e.g., in Neon’s database).
- Access Controls: Only authorized MCPins team members access your data when needed.
- Third Parties: Our providers (Vercel, Postmark, etc.) follow industry-standard security practices.
No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to protect your data. If there’s a breach, we’ll notify you as required by law.
6. Cookies and Tracking
MCPins uses minimal cookies for essential functions (e.g., keeping you logged in). We don’t use tracking cookies for ads. We use limited technical metrics to monitor service performance and reliability. We do not track individual user behavior, use advertising cookies, or perform cross-site tracking.
7. Children’s Privacy
MCPins is for users 13 and older. If you’re under 18, get a parent’s permission. We don’t knowingly collect data from kids under 13. If we learn we have, we’ll delete it immediately. If you are located in the EU, parental consent may be required where mandated by local law.
8. International Users
MCPins is based in the United States. If you’re outside the US (e.g., EU), your data may be transferred to our servers or providers (e.g., Vercel, Linode). We comply with laws like GDPR for EU users. EU users may exercise their GDPR-related rights by emailing support@mcpins.app. We respond to these requests within the timeframes required by applicable law. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses to protect personal data transferred internationally.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. We’ll notify you of big changes via email or in-app, at least 30 days in advance. Using MCPins after changes means you accept the new policy.
